Skin care is the series of practices that support healthy skin, improve its physical appearance and alleviate many skin conditions like acne, wrinkles etc. They provide a platform for prevention and treatment of the skin disorders. The main components of the skin care program are; skincare products, internal cleansing and moisturizing, dietary counseling, skin cancer and sun protection measures. The skin care products facilitate the process by which, all these processes occur.

Skin care products include cleansers, toners, moisturizers, makeup removers, facial wash, exfoliators, and sun protection measures. Cleansers remove dead skin cells and other impurities from the face. The cleanser selected for the particular skin should be compatible with the skin type, oiliness, pH and other factors. Cleansers are generally chosen according to the type of skin, for oily skin, cleansers with milder formulation are generally used. However, some cleansers, which are not specifically meant for all skin types, provide significant benefits to all types of skin.

Toners are one of the important components of the skin care products. It acts as a cleansing agent to remove the excess of oil from the skin, thereby keeping the skin hydrated and preventing premature skin aging and other skin problems. The toner selected for the particular skin should be suitable for the texture of the skin, for example, a dry skin toner may not suit a moisturized skin. Toners can be of various ingredients, some of them contain ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid etc., while some of them contain natural or herbal products like tea tree oil, Aloe Vera, cucumber etc. To get long term, good skin care products should be used on a regular basis.

Wrinkle removers are another category of products. Some of these include serums, lotions, gels and creams. These are usually made of different ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants, anti-aging compounds etc., to get revitalized skin. It is important to use these products after taking adequate sun block.

Eye Creams, while providing nourishment, also serves the purpose of revitalizing the skin by fighting against wrinkles, fine lines and eye puffiness. Many women make the mistake of using the wrong toner, cream or eye gel. For instance, women often use moisturizers along with eye cream for puffiness without realizing that the moisture content of eye cream may not be adequate. Similarly, the right toner should be used along with a specific eye cream.

Another category of such skin care products includes eye gels, which act as natural collagen rejuvenating creams. They contain different ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid etc., to increase cellular regeneration and thereby to counter wrinkles, fine lines and puffiness. One should also look out for certain natural ingredients like coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid etc. which can counter aging signs like skin wrinkles, dark circles and bags effectively.
